We have a few new things coming home from school, which you need to be on the lookout for.
We have finished with our Pre-Decodable books. We are now moving into our Decodable books from our new literacy program. The books are tiny, and we don't want you to miss them! Each week, a new book will be introduced. The books should be easy for your child to read, as we will have practiced them in class. They might need to sound out a word or two. These books may be kept at home, when your child is finished reading. As we did with the Pre-Decodable books, please have your child read their book three times.

Your child will also bring home a small slip of paper. We have been singing a song called Seeds of Kindness. A few of our friends have been taking behavior slips home each day, to report behavior to their families. I am trying to find a way for kids to take ownership of their behavior, in this reporting to moms and dads. We are going to try this out for a while. Each day, every student in the class will decided how many seeds of kindness they think they have earned. The number of seeds will go right along with our report card grades. 4=outstanding, 3=exactly what we are looking for, 2=needs a little help, 1=tough day
I hope you'll keep an eye out for these slips of paper, in your child's folder and talk to them about the choices they have made. Thanks for your help!
