Today, we used rice cakes, frosting, and goldfish to make fish bowl snacks. Over the past few days we have been examining recipes in childrens' cookbooks, talking about things we have noticed. The kids have pointed out things like titles, steps, photos, labels, and lists in the recipes. We used the three-step-sequence cards to talk about, and name each of the steps in creating these snacks. The verbal discussion is our form of pre-writing.
